RONAN KEATING LAUNCHES 2008 RE/MAX
WALK FOR LIFE

(Sponsored Walk to Raise Over €200,000 for Charity)

Monday, 21st April 2008:  Ronan Keating today announced details of this year’s RE/MAX Walk for Life in aid of the Marie Keating Foundation and Children’s Miracle Network.  The event, which involves a 10K walk starting from over 50 of the RE/MAX offices around Ireland simultaneously, raised €185,000 in 2007 and organisers are hoping to increase this to over €200,000 this year.

The 10k walk will start at 12pm on Sunday, August 17th from over 50 of the RE/MAX offices simultaneously.  The walk is taking place to help raise funds for Children’s Miracle Network and to maintain the Marie Keating Foundation’s three Mobile Cancer Information Units.

“We are determined to build on the success of last year’s event. “The RE/MAX Walk for Life last year enabled us to put a new Mobile Unit on the road.  We are confident we can do so much more this year and are appealing to people to join in and make this happen,” said Linda Keating of the Marie Keating Foundation.  “Not only is the walk a great way for us to raise money but is also a way of encouraging people to get out, exercise and keep healthy,” she added.

“Our franchises across Ireland are gearing up for another successful Walk in aid of the Marie Keating Foundation,” said Mark Campbell, regional director of RE/MAX Ireland said.   “It was tremendously fulfilling for us to have been an integral part of this in 2007 and we are looking forward to attempting to break our target and raise over €200,000 for the Foundation this year.  So we would encourage people to sign up for the 2008 Walk For Life at any of our franchises nationwide or directly with the Marie Keating Foundation,” he concluded.

To receive a starter pack consisting of t-shirt, cap and sponsorship card, people can sign up for the RE/MAX Walk for Life at their local RE/MAX office or with the Marie Keating Foundation on either 01-6283728 or email: lkeating@mariekeating.ie   For further details you can also check out, http://www.remax.ie/

Note to Editors:

About Marie Keating Foundation
Following their mother Marie’s death in 1998 each member of the Keating family promised that they would do everything they could to bring an end to breast cancer.  They committed to provide all women and their families with the necessary information to prevent cancer or detect it at its earliest stages. Their collective aim was to “enlighten not frighten”. The Marie Keating Foundation is the realisation of a family’s dedication – it is a promise to themselves in action.  Through three mobile information units the Foundation’s dedicated nurses have enlightened almost 85,050 people of the causes and risk factors of breast and other cancers.  “Men Keeping Fit” is now a successful annual campaign and has significantly raised awareness among men of testicular and prostate cancer.

The Foundation finances other areas of need in cancer care.  Monies raised help to refurbish hospital oncology waiting rooms in making them more comfortable for patients.  A comfort fund for those in financial difficulty as a result of their illness provides immediate assistance, when required.  The Foundation is committed to raising awareness among young people in schools of cancer and its prevention and has developed a programme for secondary school students, in conjunction with the Department of Education.

The Foundation provides all of its services free of charge.

IRELAND’S BIGGEST PROPERTY SALE LAUNCHED
(Over 50 RE/MAX Offices Nationwide Offering 100’s of Properties Reduced to Sell)

Dublin, Ireland 11th March 2008:  RE/MAX Ireland, today announced its biggest property sale ever in Ireland.  Over 50 RE/MAX offices nationwide are offering potential buyers the choice of 100’s of properties at reduced prices from the 14th March running until the end of May 2008.

Speaking at the launch of the initiative, Michael Cahill, operations manager, RE/MAX Ireland said,  “We have seen vendors across Ireland reduce their prices on an individual basis over the past couple of months.  However, we are hoping that this united approach to the sale process will give the property market the kick-start it needs and turn things around in 2008.

“The launch of our property sale can only mean even better news for the consumers, buyers and sellers alike, and we hope will also help our network of offices and agents to accelerate their business across Ireland.  We felt it important to do something to highlight to people that property is still a viable source of investment and hope that initiatives like the one being introduced today can only help to drive the market in the right direction,” he concluded.

RE/MAX has 80 offices  and 300 sales associates across the 32 counties and is the largest estate agency in the North of Ireland with 18 offices and 132 affiliates.  In June of 2007, RE/MAX announced that it would expand operations across Ireland to 140 offices over the next two years.  In Northern Ireland RE/MAX has recruited 132 people since 2005.  Another 100 positions in 16 new offices will be created by 2009.

Background Information - RE/MAX Ireland

RE/MAX Ireland was founded in 1998 by Dennis Curtin and Tamara Libbey. Dennis was also the very first RE/MAX franchisee in 1975 in Kansas City, Missouri. Dennis began with a single franchise office, which he built to ownership of three offices in Kansas City, North Missouri with over 110 Associates, sales volume in excess of $200,000,000 and market share of over 43%, when he sold the company in May of 1990.

Dennis purchased regional sub franchise rights for western Missouri in 1977, and subsequently purchased sub franchise rights for the states of Arkansas, Kansas and Oklahoma in 1985. The region currently is comprised of 127 offices and over 2,275 Associates.

In June 1993 Denis purchased RE/MAX Dixie Region, including sub franchise rights for Alabama, Louisiana and Mississippi. The Region currently has 93 offices with over 1,800 Associate members.

RE/MAX Ireland - The Future
Every RE/MAX office across Ireland is independently owned and operated. RE/MAX has 85 offices across the 32 counties and is the largest estate agency in the North of Ireland with 18 offices and 132 affiliates.

RE/MAX is currently ranked in the top three in the Irish property market, three big brands control in the region of 40% of all the residential market and RE/MAX is one of them.

As a result of the company’s expansion plans outlined above, they are actively looking to recruit franchise owners, as well as sales agents. To follow is an idea of what a RE/MAX owner/agent might look like:

Background Information - RE/MAX

RE/MAX was founded by American entrepreneurs Dave and Gial Liniger in 1973 in Denver, Colorado.

Dave Liniger knew that the more and more people were tired of the poor service provided by many estate agents. He decided that his customers deserved something better - a one to one, genuinely personal service.

The system he created means that RE/MAX Sales Associates always put customers and superb customer service at the hub of the house buying and selling equation. It has made RE/MAX the worlds most successful agent, in that nobody in the world sells more real estate.

In return Sales Associates have the opportunity to use the status and global resources of RE/MAX to build their own reputation and be well rewarded for their efforts.

How the RE/MAX System Works

Every RE/MAX office is independently owned and operated and each office is a facility that gives Sales Associates a base with all the necessary tools to do their work to the best of their ability.

In effect, the RE/MAX system works by promoting entrepreneurship and individual initiative. The companys franchisees and agents are self employed are in business for themselves, but not by themselves. Across the world, RE/MAX representatives receive mentoring, coaching, training, technological and marketing support form RE/MAX and subscribe to the companys 38 article Code of Ethics.

The company isn’t only a global brand and a subsidy-free inward investor; its approach compliments EU economic development priorities (as outlined in the Lisbon Agenda).

The key economic priorities if the Lisbon Agenda (which all EU member states must support) are:
More investment in knowledge and innovation
Move investment in education and training
Unlocking business potential, especially that of SMEs
Obtaining higher employment rates

The RE/MAX Global Approach

The RE/MAX approach shook up the industry and the company faced a lot of opposition, but it now has 6,900 offices and 121,000 affiliates (franchisees and self employed agents) in 65 countries. The RE/MAX hot air balloon logo is the worlds 13th most recognised brand.

RE/MAX ticks all the boxes. Its services are supported by ‘hi-tec’ sales and information systems (that put properties on a world-wide network and include automatic language translation), the company invests heavily in training, it encourages local entrepreneurs to set up small businesses and it creates well paid positions that support other sectors of the economy.
